Migration assessment

Plan your move to AWS with an AI agent.

Sherpa's Migration Assessment walks your team through scope, owners, servers, workloads and target state, and keeps every decision, risk and open question in one place.

How it works

Seven steps, guided by an AI agent.

The Migration Assessment's seven steps: kickoff, business scope and owners, estate data, workload and domain discovery, infrastructure, target state and pricing, and review and compile.

The AI agent asks for what it needs at each step, such as utilisation data, licence records and current data-centre costs.

The problem

Why does migration planning take so long?

  • Before anything moves, someone must find out what runs, who owns it and what depends on what.
  • That discovery is the slowest, most expensive phase.
  • Sherpa's AI agent runs it with your team and records what it learns.

One workspace

What does the assessment keep for you?

One workspace holds your decisions and assumptions, risks and stakeholders, open items and data requests, and your machine inventory.

Questions

Migration assessment questions.

What data do we need?

An export of your servers, such as from RVTools, plus the people who know your business scope and owners. The AI agent asks for anything else it needs.

Does Sherpa move our workloads?

No. Sherpa helps your team plan the move and record the decisions. Your engineers or your migration partner do the move.

Who can start an assessment?

An admin in your Sherpa organization.

Is this the same as the FinOps Assessment?

No. The Migration Assessment plans what you'll move to AWS. The FinOps Assessment reviews the cost of what you already run there.
