How it works

Three steps, one month.

  1. 1

    A 30-minute setup call.

Your team deploys one CloudFormation template in the AWS management account, and we verify the connection together on the call.

  2. 2

    30 days of data.

Sherpa collects your Cost and Usage Data and usage for 30 days while your team continues normal operations.

  3. 3

    The readout.

We take your leadership team through each saving, its monthly value and the recommended order for remediation.

What you get

A report and a readout your CFO can use.

  • The assessment report.

Idle and unused resources, rightsizing, scheduling and Savings Plans, each with its monthly saving, plus a step-by-step remediation roadmap for your engineers.

  • The readout presentation.

An executive presentation that ranks the savings by value, so your leadership team can set priorities and assign owners.

The review focuses on AWS cost. The Sherpa team runs it on your data and hands your team the results.

Price

One fixed fee, set by your monthly AWS spend.

The fee is fixed before we start, based on your average monthly AWS spend over the last three months, and it doesn't depend on what we find. We quote it after a short call.

Companies that manage cloud costs well cut them by as much as 20–30% (McKinsey, 2023). On a $25,000-a-month AWS bill, that is $5,000–$7,500 a month back in the budget Example

Why not hire? A FinOps specialist costs about $155K a year in salary and benefits (estimate). The assessment gives you a specialist's review of your AWS cost once, for a fixed fee and without adding headcount.

Questions

FinOps Assessment questions.

What does the FinOps Assessment include?

It includes a 30-minute setup call, 30 days of your AWS cost and usage data, an assessment report that prices each saving, and a readout presentation for your leadership team.

How long does it take?

About six weeks from the setup call: Sherpa collects 30 days of data, then our team prepares the report and delivers the readout.

What does it cost?

One fixed fee, set by your average monthly AWS spend and quoted after a short call. It doesn't depend on what we find.

What do we need to do?

Join a 30-minute setup call, where your team deploys one CloudFormation template in your AWS management account with ours. After that, Sherpa collects your data while your team works as usual.

Does it include the Sherpa platform?

No. The assessment is a review run by the Sherpa team: you get the report and the readout. If your team wants to use Sherpa itself, the readout ends with a proposal for an annual subscription.

Does Sherpa change anything in our AWS account?

Not your workloads. The report sets out each recommended change and how to make it, and your team decides what to apply and when.
